Explosion-proof air conditioning for Zone 1 and Zone 2 areas

We supply, install and maintain ATEX and IECEx certified air conditioners on rigs, liftboats, vessels and process plants across the UAE. Installation and inspection by CompEx-certified technicians.

What we do

Explosion-proof split and window units

Certified units for control rooms, analyser shelters, MCC rooms and accommodation in hazardous areas.

Packaged and ducted systems

Ducted cooling and fresh air for offshore accommodation and living quarters.

Marine HVAC

Air conditioning and ventilation on vessels and liftboats, built for salt air and 50°C+ ambient.

Maintenance and breakdowns

Planned maintenance, Ex inspections, gas charging and same-day breakdown response.

How to specify an explosion-proof air conditioner

ZONEZone 1 (gas likely in normal operation) or Zone 2 (gas only in abnormal conditions). Zone 1 needs the higher protection level.
GAS GROUPIIA, IIB or IIC. IIC covers hydrogen and acetylene and suits most areas; IIB is common in oil and gas.
TEMPERATURE CLASST1 to T6: the maximum surface temperature must stay below the ignition temperature of the gas present. T3 or T4 is typical.
CERTIFICATIONATEX (EU) or IECEx (international). Ask for the certificate, not only a datasheet.
SITE CONDITIONSAmbient up to 55°C, salt air, power supply and duty. Desert and offshore conditions cut capacity, so we size for them.

Frequently asked questions

What is an explosion-proof air conditioner?

An air conditioner built and certified so it cannot ignite flammable gas or vapour around it. Electrical parts sit in flameproof or pressurised enclosures and surface temperatures stay below the gas ignition point.

What is the difference between ATEX and IECEx?

ATEX is the European directive; IECEx is the international certification scheme. Both use the same technical standards, and most UAE operators accept either. Check your client’s specification.

Do I need a Zone 1 or Zone 2 unit?

It follows your hazardous area classification drawing. If the location is not classified yet, we review it with your HSE team before we specify a unit.

Who is allowed to install it?

Installation and inspection in hazardous areas should be done by competent persons; CompEx certification is the recognised proof of that competence.

How much does an explosion-proof AC cost in the UAE?

It depends on capacity, zone, gas group and certification. Send us the area classification, cooling load and location and we quote within one working day.

Can you maintain units we already have?

Yes. We take over maintenance of existing explosion-proof units, including Ex inspections, cleaning, gas charging and repairs.
